Activator low force adjusting is a very specific, specialized form of chiropractic care that utilizes a low impact instrument to deliver the adjustment.  The Activator is able to accomplish 2 goals that manual adjusting is unable too.

First, the most important component of the chiropractic adjustment is speed.  The Activator adjusting instrument is able to deliver the adjustment in 3-5 milliseconds, whereas the hands on adjustment is delivered in 150-200 milliseconds.

Why is this important?  The stretch reflex, the reflex that happens when the doctor taps your knee and your leg kicks, takes about 19-24 milliseconds.  Meaning the Activator adjustment is about 6-8 times faster then the muscle reflex.  Which means, the adjustment so fast that the muscles are not able to tighten up fast enough to resist the adjustment, making the adjusting process much more comfortable.

Activator Treatments

Dr. Grimes treats patients using a specific analysis and correction called Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT).  This analysis is supported by over 40 years of clinical study and research support.  There are currently over 350 published, peer reviewed research papers on this unique, specialty technique.

Activator Methods is demanding of its doctorsand implements a testing protocol and ongoing education for those doctors choosing to use this method of care for their patients.  To be rated, or qualified, as an Activator practitioner, a doctor must pass both written and practical examinations, in addition to state and national licensing examinations.  The doctor will be rated either, 'Basic' or 'Advanced', depending on his or her knowledge and skill level. Once a rating is achieved, doctors are placed on a world wide directory (www.activator.com) so that the profession and patients know who is qualified to use the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique.  If a chiropractor is not listed in the directory, he or she is not qualified, and may not market themselves as qualified in the analysis or the technique.

Dr. Grimes has held an advanced proficiency rating for several years and continues with yearly training.

The activator is approved by the FDA.  Most insurance companies reimburse for Activator treatments.  To use the Activator, a doctor must take additional post graduate classes and pass a competency test.   Dr. Dan is one of only 36 chiropractic doctors in Minnesota that has this credential.

I have never had chiropractic care before and was hesitant to undergo "bone crunching", so I was pleasantly surprised to find treatment gentle, but effective.  I was having large amounts of low back pain that would wake me up at night, but now, NO BACK PAIN!! I am able to sleep well, exercise vigourously and not have any discomfort.
